概要
Welcome back! In today’s episode, we’re diving into a fan-favorite from Season One that teaches us all about the "magic" of rules. Grab your snacks (and maybe a cupcake) as we head to the park for "Shadowlands."
Episode Overview
* Title: Shadowlands
* Season & Episode: Season 1, Episode 5
* Original Airdate: October 5, 2018 (ABC Australia)
* Key Themes: Sportsmanship, the value of rules, and creative problem-solving.
The Plot: Shade vs. Sun
While on a picnic, Bluey, Snickers, and Coco play a high-stakes game of "Shadowlands." The rules are simple: the shadows are safe islands, and the sun-drenched grass is a sea full of crocodiles.
* The Conflict: Coco has a habit of taking shortcuts to make games easier for herself. Throughout the episode, she repeatedly tries to bend the rules when the group gets stuck.
* The Climax: The trio finds themselves stranded on a small shadow "island" under a palm tree. Their moms tempt them with cupcakes, leading Coco and Snickers to suggest changing the rules so they can cross the sunlight.
* The Resolution: Just as Bluey is about to give in, a passing cloud casts a massive shadow over the field. The kids race across the grass and realize that following the rules actually made the victory feel much more rewarding and fun.
Fun Facts & Trivia
* Series Firsts: This is the first episode set entirely away from the Heeler house, the first to feature Bluey’s classmates, and the first where neither Bandit nor Bingo appears.
* The "Jesus" Joke: An early draft included a joke where Snickers says he can walk on water because "Jesus can," and Bluey asks, "Who’s Jesus?". Creator Joe Brumm cut it because it felt "too weird" for the show's tone.
* Game Inspiration: The game is a direct variation of the classic "The Floor is Lava".
* Sausage Dog Speed: Bluey’s iconic line, "Run your little sausage dog legs!" to Snickers, is actually reused in a later episode titled Typewriter.
