This episode of the Creative Community Podcast is part of the ‘Your Voice, Your Story’ series for Black History Month. Akeisha, our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Development Lead, is interviewing Black staff members and people we support to learn more about their culture, heritage, traditions and lives.
In episode 2 of ‘Your Voice Your Story’, Letitia, a support worker based in Harrow, discusses her roots as a Black British women back to Jamaican Rastafarai parents.
Letitia talks about the things she loves about being Jamaican, from playing Lovers Rock on a Sunday, to the way elders are viewed and respected. She also discusses some of the challenges she faced when growing up, and how some of these are mirrored by her daughter in the present day.
