    2026/03/31

In this episode of Beyond the Target, we break down the Bald Guys With Guns Evens Challenge—how it started, how it evolved, and why it’s become one of the most unique shooting competitions we’ve ever run.

What began as a way to test our own long-range skills turned into a full challenge designed for anyone to come out and try. We talk through the original concept, the changes we made along the way, and the feedback that helped shape it into what it is today.

We dive into the rules, scoring system, and the mental side of the challenge—why moving on after a miss makes it harder, and how confidence (or lack of it) plays a huge role in performance.

We also share real experiences from shooters who have attempted it, including how difficult it actually is to complete and what it takes to earn a challenge coin.

If you’re into long-range shooting, competition-style challenges, or just want to hear the story behind something we built from the ground up, this episode is for you.

In Episode 4, we dive into our experience with a Winchester Model 70 chambered in .243 and revisit the videos we made putting it to the test.

From there, we break down both the review and competition videos, including running 100 grain Core-Lokt ammo through a series of challenges at distance.

We get into what went right, what went wrong, and how our inexperience showed—especially when stretching things out to 500 yards.
