  • Multi-Identities, Trauma, and Resiliency with Scott Stolarick
    2026/08/03

In this episode, host Donna Hoffmeyer chats with licensed psychotherapist Scott Stolarick about resiliency, multi-identities, treatment resistance, and the challenges veterans and first responders face when transitioning to civilian life.

    Key Discussion Points

    • The Mosaic Approach: Trauma and past mistakes are merely pieces of a larger life puzzle, not the definitive whole of who a person is.
    • Overcoming Treatment Resistance: Reluctance to seek therapy often stems from a fear of losing one's edge, becoming vulnerable, or having defenses stripped away.
    • Trauma Bonding: High-intensity service careers can create powerful trauma bonds, making the prospect of leaving and losing a familiar identity deeply intimidating.
    • The Non-Linear Path: Healing is bumpy and requires time, moving gradually from intense care levels to refined long-term coping skills.
    • Collaboration & Control: Empowering clients through collaborative care instead of forced compliance helps restore their lost sense of autonomy.
    • Supporting Isolation: Pressuring isolated individuals rarely works; instead, meeting them where they are with patience and a non-judgmental presence is vital.

  • Navigating Toxic Workplaces & Pattern Recognition | Chelsea Stinson
    2026/07/21

In this episode of Beyond the Frontline, host Donna and leadership coach Chelsea Stinson unpack the hidden patterns of toxic workplaces, corporate gaslighting, and why high-performing professionals are so frequently targeted.

    • The Trap of High Performance: Genuine, high-achieving employees often become targets simply because their competence exposes the inconsistencies of insecure leaders.
    • The Four Stages of Toxicity: Learn to recognize the progression from subtle initial tests and bold escalations to organizational "mobbing" and the frustrating confrontation flip.
    • Starving the Fire: Toxic actors rely on emotional reactions to fuel their behavior; staying radically calm and using neutral phrasing disrupts their tactics entirely.
    • A Lesson for Leadership: Good leaders risk losing their best talent if they remain blind to toxic middle-management dynamics.
