In this truly touching and powerful episode, Mr. Jay shares his heart and years of professional training for anyone struggling with betrayal trauma.He answers the questions:Why is betrayal trauma so different from any other trauma?How do we deal with internal and external emotional triggers after betrayal? How do we deal with our demons and stop running from the pain?Mr. Jay was raised with a faith background; however, Mr. Jay’s childhood was not fun or easy. His environment was full of toxicity and abuse.Mr. Jay quit school in the sixth grade, and as a 12-year-old, he was hospitalized for acute stress. He moved out of his parents’ home at 14 years of age and started working two jobs as a grocery sacker.Mr. Jay loved his dad and was close to him. But when he died suddenly, he began to experience panic attacks. The panic attacks sent him on a mission. His healing process began after he attended a betrayal trauma group. As he sought help for himself, the director encouraged him to start helping others struggling with trauma from betrayal.After a decade of teaching, and another decade as a full-time stay-at-home dad, Mr. Jay was called into the mental health field. He now works as a Certified Betrayal Trauma Practitioner and Intrapersonal Relationship Coach. To serve his clients, Mr. Jay helps and supports each individual and/or couple move through the stages from betrayal to breakthrough. Mr. Jay helps his clients recognize that “with hard work, determination, and willingness, you can still have your happily EVEN after.”Mr. Jay is the author of a betrayal trauma healing journal, “From Tears to Transformation.” He is a proud veteran of the United States military and an even more proud adoptive parent.During his downtime, Mr. Jay enjoys roller skating, listening to music, officiating weddings, singing at local charities/events, public speaking, and watching an occasional guilty pleasure crime show. Mr. Jay is a family man and enjoys showing his children the beauty of life in New York.
