We are saturated in a culture that says we can be our own boss, that we are supposed to be independent and call our own shots. Today, Jo teaches us to trace our problems/issues back to God's authority. We want Him to bail us out of our messes, but He wants to be the authority in every part of our lives. God has more in store for us on the journey of life.

We have been so blessed to celebrate our nation's freedom and independence another year. As Jo encourages us this week, "When you see the fireworks, let it be a reminder to pray for the fire of the Holy Spirit." Don't let it be just another holiday or barbecue event. Remember that God was involved and was proclaimed before we gained freedom. Let's look back and learn how to pray for our nation's future.
