  • Episode 28: JFK 50 Miler Champions Corner! With David Sinclair and Carolyn Showalter
    2025/11/17

That's right folks! It's JFK week, which marks 1 year of the Bear Right! Trail Podcast and we are coming in hot for our anniversary.

In this episode we are joined by 2 greats of the sport!

David Sinclair is undeniably one of the top trail runners in the sport, regardless of terrain or distance. He is a professional trail runner with Craft Sportswear who lives and trains in Vermont. He is the defending JFK 50 Miler Men's Champion and course record holder.

Carolyn Showalter is an absolute legend of the JFK 50 Miler, holding multiple records at the race. She has 37 finishes to her name, the most of any woman including 22 consecutive finishes. She shares the record for most victories at 6 and holds the women's 70+ age group course record!

In our discussion with these two greats we get to see just how much this incredible sport has evolved. From Carolyn's early ultra runs with no aid stations, pumping water from wells along the path, to David flying to tropical islands for not so tropical experiences, we go along for the journey.

I truly enjoyed the dynamic and am so grateful for the grit and determination of athletes like Carolyn who really started the pulse of this sport and athletes like David who continue to push it further forward with such passion.

Thanks so much to my guests and be sure to follow them at this year's race!
