  • Did Jesus Really Rise From the Dead?
    2026/04/01

What if Christianity doesn’t begin with a teaching—but with an event?

In this episode of Apollos Answers, we confront the central claim of the Christian faith: that Jesus of Nazareth, publicly executed under Roman authority, rose from the dead.

Not metaphorically. Not spiritually. But physically.

This isn’t a question of preference or philosophy—it’s a question of history.

Using the same standards historians apply to any ancient event, we examine the evidence surrounding the resurrection. We start with what most scholars agree on: Jesus’ crucifixion under Pontius Pilate during the reign of Emperor Tiberius, His burial in a known tomb, and the early claims that the tomb was later found empty.

From there, we explore the earliest eyewitness testimony—creeds and accounts that date back to within just a few years of the crucifixion—naming individuals and even groups who claimed to have seen Jesus alive.

We then follow the transformation of the earliest Christians. Fearful followers become bold proclaimers. Skeptics like James become leaders. Enemies like Paul become missionaries. Something happened—and it demands an explanation.

    But we don’t stop there.

This episode also takes seriously the strongest skeptical objections. Were the appearances hallucinations? Did the disciples fabricate the story? Was the wrong tomb involved—or did Jesus somehow survive crucifixion?

Rather than dismissing these explanations, we examine them carefully—and show where they struggle to account for the full scope of the historical data. Future episodes will go even deeper, taking each alternative theory head-on.

Because ultimately, the question isn’t whether the resurrection is easy to believe.

The question is whether it’s the best explanation.

If Jesus really rose from the dead, then history isn’t closed, death isn’t final, and Jesus isn’t just someone to admire—He’s someone to answer to.

And that’s where this conversation becomes personal.

    In this episode:

    • The historical method and how scholars evaluate ancient claims
    • Evidence for Jesus’ death by crucifixion
    • The significance of the burial and the empty tomb
    • Early eyewitness testimony and the 1 Corinthians 15 creed
    • The transformation of the disciples, James, and Paul
    • A serious look at alternative explanations

    If the text is reliable…
    the next question is unavoidable.

Did Jesus really rise from the dead?

  • Is The Bible Reliable?
    2026/01/20

Is the Bible reliable—or has it been copied, edited, and altered beyond recognition?

In this episode of Apollos Answers, we tackle one of the most common and serious objections to Christianity: Can the Bible be trusted as a historical document?

Rather than starting with theology, we go full investigation mode—digging into manuscript evidence, archaeology, and non-biblical historical sources to see how the Bible stacks up against other ancient works we rely on every day. From the sheer number of New Testament manuscripts, to the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947, to hostile Roman and Jewish sources that reference Jesus, the evidence is far more robust than most people realize.

We also take skepticism seriously. Not strawmen—steel-manned objections. Were copying errors inevitable? Could legends have crept in? Did early Christians edit the text to fit their beliefs? We examine the strongest versions of these challenges and ask whether they actually hold up under historical scrutiny.

This episode isn’t about blind faith. It’s about asking hard questions, following the evidence wherever it leads, and understanding why Christians claim the Bible has been faithfully preserved.

Whether you’re a skeptic, a believer, or somewhere in between, this episode will give you a clearer picture of what historians actually know—and what questions still remain.

  • Why The Podcast...Why Apollos Answers?
    2026/01/12

What happens when a stranger asks you why you believe what you believe, and you don’t have a good answer?

In this first episode of Apollos Answers, host Ken Koger shares the unexpected conversation on a crowded Chicago commuter train that changed everything. A simple question, “Are you a theist?” exposed an uncomfortable truth: belief without understanding isn’t enough.

That moment sparked a journey into evidence, history, reason, and hard questions. Questions many Christians are never taught how to answer, and questions skeptics are often told faith can’t survive.

This episode tells the story behind the podcast:
    • Why inherited belief often collapses under pressure
    • How doubt can become a doorway to deeper faith
    • Why faith and reason are not enemies
    • And why honest questions deserve honest answers

Apollos Answers isn’t about winning arguments or silencing skepticism. It’s about examining belief with clarity, humility, and confidence. Whether you’re a lifelong Christian, a skeptic, or someone still searching, this podcast invites you to explore faith that can stand up to scrutiny.

If truth is real, it doesn’t fear questions.
