This is not a threat but a description of reality. Apart from the vine, the branch has no life of its own — it only looks alive. Jesus names what is true so we can stop pretending otherwise.
This is Day 5 of 27 in our meditation through John 15. Each episode builds on the one before — I'd recommend going in order, but let the Spirit lead you back whenever you feel called.
Each meditation follows the same format:
- A brief breathing exercise (10 rounds of 3-count inhale, 6-count exhale)
- Today's verse read slowly, seven times
- Ten minutes of contemplative silence with music
