In November 2025, the jury found Ross guilty on all counts.

During the penalty phase, prosecutors sought the death penalty, arguing Ross's crimes met statutory requirements: multiple victims including young children and a deliberate, premeditated plan. Defense attorneys urged jurors to consider mitigating factors.

The jury deliberated for two days.

On May 7, 2026, they returned their verdict: Ross should be executed on all three counts of first-degree murder. As the verdict was read, some jurors cried, as did people in the gallery including Iris's sister, Laura Sutherland.

Sutherland said: "In court he had been asking for mercy and sympathy, but there was no sympathy and no mercy for Iris and her children."

Ross is on death row awaiting execution. An automatic appeals process will follow.
