  • Employment is dead!? The movement to worker empowerment
    2023/12/05

During this episode we talked to Josh Drean about many changes we're living through in 2023 - from experimentation with generative AI, to economic volatility, to power dynamic change during the "summer of strikes" and so on - all driving organizations to rethink the employee experience design but still falling short of what individuals want from work - living wages, flexibility, autonomy, agency and fulfillment.

Speaker bio: Josh Drean is Co-founder & Director of Employee Experience at The Work3 Institute, AI & Workforce Advisor at the Harvard Innovation Labs, and Co-author of Employment is Dead (Harvard Business Review Press, 2024). He is an HR Transformation and AI expert who marries web3 technologies with workplace strategies. As Co-founder of The Work3 Institute, a research, and consulting agency focused on human-centric digital transformation, Josh’s aim is to help companies thrive in the rapidly changing world of work. Josh’s work has been featured in Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Fast Company, and The Economist and he has made appearances on TheToday Show, NBC, and FOX Business. He speaks internationally to bring workforce trends to digital-first leaders. Josh earned his undergraduate degree in I/O psychology and a masters degree at Harvard University, where he incubated and sold an HR Tech startup pioneering sentiment analysis in real-time.

  • To DAO or not to DAO (DAO = Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) with @FilipV
    2023/01/19

The guest of this episode was @FilipV, a contributor of Juicebox DAO (and a few more). During the episode we dive into the topic of DAOs  (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations). DAOs provide a loose structure by enabling a community of contributors with a passion for solving a specific problem. Such an environment is suited for individuals who are comfortable with self-management, transparency, and autonomy. We examine specific characteristics of DAOs such as democratic power distribution, collective decision making, incentives structure, role of honesty, identity and reputation and many other things that “traditional” work environments might not necessarily provide. We discuss the technicalities of working in DAO, the ways of getting paid, and the traits and personalities of individuals who are drawn to such environments.

Guest bio: FilipV is a cryptocurrency and blockchain specialist with experience from decentralized autonomous organizations, startups, and corporations alike: his primary domains of expertise include governance, decentralized (and traditional) finance, operations, tooling, documentation, and programming.
