Today on Mini History, we go to ancient china, and the Ming Dynasty. In the early 15th century, before Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic, Ming China launched a fleet of ships unlike anything the world had ever seen. Commanded by the Muslim Eunuch Admiral Zheng He, these ancient chinese ships dubbed 'Treasure Ships' were up to four times the size of European vessels and sailed as far as Africa.
But within decades, the largest, most powerful navy in history was ordered to be burned, and China retreated into isolation.
This is the story of Zheng He, the Treasure Fleet, and the mysterious decision that changed the course of global history.
