  • 104 - From My Notebook | The Signs of Recovery We Almost Always Miss
    2026/07/21
When someone you love is struggling with addiction, it's natural to focus on the obvious signs. Are they drinking? Using? Going to meetings? Following through with treatment? But what if some of the most meaningful signs of recovery are the ones we almost always miss?In this first From My Notebook episode, I'm sharing a story that has stayed with me long after a coaching session ended. It starts with a lemon tree... but it's really about recognising the quiet moments that tell us someone is slowly finding their way back to themselves. If you're supporting a loved one with addiction, feeling exhausted, hypervigilant, or constantly searching for reassurance, this episode will gently invite you to look beyond the crisis and notice the ordinary moments where hope quietly begins. In this episode, we explore:Why families and spouses naturally become hypervigilant when living with addiction. The quiet signs of recovery we often overlook. Why recovery is about more than sobriety. How noticing the small moments can help you reconnect with hope. Why healing begins long before life feels "fixed."Because sometimes recovery doesn't arrive with fireworks, or a grand entrance announcing itself.Sometimes... it quietly arrives with lemons.🌿 Looking for more support?👉Discovery to RecoveryIf this episode resonated and you're wondering, "Where do I even begin?", Discovery to Recovery is your first step out of chaos and into feeling steady.Designed for partners and family members affected by addiction, this self-paced programme helps you move out of survival mode, understand what's happening, quiet the overwhelm, and begin making small choices and decisions from a place of clarity instead of fear.If you're feeling stuck, constantly overthinking, or unsure what to do next, this is where I'd encourage you to start.👉Recovery ReclaimedIf you've already begun that journey and you're ready for more practical tools, deeper understanding, and ongoing support, Recovery Reclaimed is your next step.Together we'll help you strengthen your boundaries, rebuild trust in yourself, gain greater clarity, and move forward with confidence—regardless of what your loved one chooses.👉 Pathway to WellnessIf you're ready for personalised coaching, live support, and a community of people who truly understand, you can join the Pathway to Wellness waitlist. This is my signature coaching programme, designed to help you reconnect with yourself, create lasting change, and build a life that no longer revolves around addiction.👉 Not sure where to begin? If you're unsure which path is right for you, you're always welcome to book in a friendly chat to talk it through. It's a private, no-pressure conversation where I'll listen to what's happening for you, help you make sense of where you are, and recommend what I believe would be your best next step. You don't have to keep carrying this on your own. • 103 - The Things You Can (and Can't) Control
    2026/07/02

What if your peace didn't have to wait?

So many of us quietly tell ourselves:

💛 "I'll feel better when they stop drinking."

💛 "I'll relax when they get help."

💛 "I'll be happy when things settle down."

But what if peace doesn't arrive at the end of someone else's recovery journey?

In this episode, Amanda shares two powerful voice notes from a listener whose words capture something so many families affected by addiction experience:

We can't make someone stop drinking.

We can't force someone into recovery.

But we can begin changing where we put our time, energy and focus, and support someone in a healthy way.

In this episode we are talking about

    • Why trying to change someone else's drinking leaves us exhausted
    • The difference between supporting someone and carrying them
    • Why your wellbeing doesn't have to depend on someone else's choices
    • What you can and can't control when living with a loved one's addiction
    • How to begin finding peace, whether your loved one is drinking, sober or somewhere in between

If you've ever found yourself searching for:

    • How do I stop worrying about my husband's drinking?

    • How do I find peace when someone I love has an addiction?

    • Why do I feel responsible for someone else's recovery?

    • How do I support someone without losing myself?

    This episode is for you.
