In this introductory episode of AIMS Insights, I talk about why I finally decided to start this podcast, the stories that stay with us in safeguarding work and why we need to keep people ( not just processes) at the centre of reflective practice.
This podcast explores the human stories behind Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs), serious harm, and the complex realities faced by people living at the edges of support systems. Together, we’ll sit with difficult themes in a reflective, psychologically safe way - not to assign blame, but to better understand the patterns, barriers and human experiences that so often repeat themselves.
I’m not approaching this as someone with perfect answers. I’m still learning too. But after more than twenty years working alongside people facing risk, crisis, trauma, exclusion and system gaps - I’ve found myself coming back to the same question again and again:
How do we stop losing people in the spaces between services?
Some listeners may find the themes discussed emotionally difficult. Please take care while listening and seek support if needed.
Episodes will be released as and when possible alongside full-time frontline work.
