    He reflects on taking his first drink at just 14 years old, using alcohol to mask feelings of not belonging, and the turning point that helped him seek support. Richard also speaks about how addiction services have changed over the years, the importance of ongoing recovery, and why lived experience can make such a difference.

    His story is one of hope, purpose and giving back—showing that recovery is possible with the right support and that brighter futures can grow from life's most difficult chapters.
