108 DAYS - why its a biggie
I've almost hit 108 days of meditation and my naturopath Jad reminded me that its a spiritually significant number.. here's a couple of reasons why:
In yoga, 108 is a sacred number that represents wholeness, transformation, and our connection to the universe. Its meaning has been woven through centuries of spiritual tradition, reminding us that every breath, movement, and intention is part of something greater.
A traditional mala holds 108 beads, guiding mantra meditation one prayer at a time, and many yogis honor life's transitions by practicing 108 Sun Salutations—a moving meditation that invites release, renewal, and presence.
There is also a beautiful cosmic connection: the average distance from Earth to the Sun is about 108 times the Sun's diameter, and the average distance from Earth to the Moon is about 108 times the Moon's diameter. While these are approximate relationships, they have long inspired the idea that the same patterns found in the heavens are reflected within us.
Whether you see 108 as sacred geometry, ancient wisdom, or a symbolic reminder of our place in the cosmos, it invites us to return to ourselves—again and again—with intention, devotion, and an open heart.
So if this resonates with you, how about you set the goal of a micro habit for 108 days consecutively? Let me know how you go!
Big Love
