Except to Love | Romans 13:8-14 | August 2, 2026What does it mean to “owe no one anything except to love one another”? In Romans 13:8-14, Paul calls believers to a life shaped by Christ-like love—a love that does no wrong to our neighbors, fulfills the law, and visibly demonstrates that God has transformed us.In this message, we are challenged not simply to learn more about love, but to be awakened to love. Because Christ has paid our debt, we are called to “pay it forward” by moving toward the wounded, the difficult, and the uncomfortable with forgiveness, truth, mercy, generosity, and reconciliation.Paul's words also carry a sense of urgency: “The night is almost gone and the day is near.” We are called to wake up, lay aside the deeds of darkness, put on the armor of light, and put on the Lord Jesus Christ.This sermon invites us to ask: Does our life pass the “neighbor test”? Are our words, actions, relationships, and choices reflecting the love of Christ?
