In this episode, Amy Thomson Holaday, RN, LMT, a somatic trauma recovery practitioner, explores the journey from survival toward self-trust, belonging, and coming home to yourself. She shares how her relationship with God has been rooted in a deep, embodied knowing that first emerged through childhood experiences in nature and has continued to unfold through her work with the body.
Amy explains that the nervous system uses survival responses - including freeze, which can show up as fatigue, brain fog, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected - as intelligent forms of protection rather than signs that something is wrong. Throughout the conversation, she emphasizes that people are not broken. Healing begins by gently remembering and learning to trust the wisdom already living within us.
She also highlights that humans are wired for co-regulation, finding healing through intentional connection with safe people, our bodies, the natural world, and, for many, a relationship with God, Pure Love, or the deepest truth within. Rather than becoming someone new, Amy invites listeners to remember who they have always been and discover that the path home has been within them all along.
