It’s good, but we have thoughts.

“Corporations didn’t intend to make the culture stagnant and boring. All they really want is to impose standardization and predictability—because it’s more profitable.”

Cass and Lee go unscripted for a look at multiple top 2025 songs and albums of the year lists from various outlets.

We are mostly disappointed, yet unshaken.

    Join us in our confusion,

And we sometimes get from our listeners that they haven't heard a lot of the bands we talk about, yet appreciate it.

Well, this one's for you! We've never said "Charli XCX" more times in our life (well . . Lee hasn't).

We also get into a few updates to kick things off.

Brett Michaels is part of that.

    How can you not listen?

    Britannica Facts!

-In what sneaky place do handlers keep their treats during dog shows?

    -What country has no mosquitos?

Why does the sky person hate Kiwi Birds?

Nextdoor App: We got 2 good ones.

Band Names (Start a band and use one of these, just give us credit)

    Bands to listen to:

-Mei Semones: Mei Semones is an artist creating jazz influenced indie pop songs with lyrics in both Japanese and English, currently based in Brooklyn, NY.

-Fantasy of a Broken Heart - Feats of Engineering - Al Nardo and Bailey Wollowitz collided in 2017 at the since-shuttered house venue Heck, in Bushwick. Immediately bonding over the The Flaming Lips and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the two have intermittently lived and worked together since, in Brooklyn and Los Angeles

-Why Bonnie - Wish on the Bone - Singer-songwriter Blair Howerton’s writing is full of doubt and vulnerability, but her band’s blend of shoegaze, fried country, and straight-ahead indie rock sounds more confident than ever. (7.4 on Pitchfork)

-Starcleaner Reunion - a New York quintet who sound a bit like if Stereolab had spent a lot of time hanging out in Ridgewood (Transplants moving to New York City may want to check out the up-and-coming Queens area that made Time Out magazine's world's coolest neighborhoods list). They announced their upcoming EP Café Life with the single “The Hand That I Put Down,” which we named one of the Best Songs Of The Week, and today we get another one called “Plein Air.”

-Sharp Pins - Radio DDR - Lifeguard singer-guitarist Kai Slate If GBV met The Byrds with some Matthew Sweet in there

    Let’s talk movies:

-Joker 2 - 32% Rotten Tomatoes- ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Is Being Booted Out of Thousands of Theaters This Weekend

    -Megalopolis - 46% and 35% audience

-Cass reads some reviews of these cinematic experiences

    Country Crap Corner

-We thought it was new, it is not new, but who cares. It is bad.

-Kid Rock, The Nashville I know

How about this lyrical Rob Ritchie poetry:

There's a line at the door full of underage whores

And the bouncer lets 'em on by

There's some clown from LA who's trying to sing Hank

But it sounds more like bad Barney Fife

    Ugh.

    Our Main topics:

    1. Chappell Roan: She loves fame/She hates fame (maybe pick one)
    2. Grunge: We watched the documentary, Hype!. (It’s a good watch.) But do the kids even listen to any of the big Grunge bands? Were all those Seattle bands good?
    3. This article: The End of Generation Rock. The music of the baby boomers survived into the 21st century, with stars still performing in their eighties. Can it last? https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/music/2024/10/end-of-generation-rock-boomers

How did we end up with rock gods in their eighties?
