    Todays Guest: Yale University Head Heavyweight Crew Coach- Mike Gennaro

    He grew up in Pennsylvania and started rowing at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, earning a spot on the U.S. Junior National Team in 2007. At Syracuse University, he captained the team and helped lead them to their first IRA grand final in 20 years, all while medaling internationally with the U.S. Under-23 Team, including a world-record gold in 2011.

    He went on to win gold at the Pan American Games, served as an Olympic alternate in 2012, and medaled at multiple World Cups and World Championships through 2015.

    In 2016, he shifted to coaching, joining Yale a top collegiate program where he helped lead three straight national championships. After a promotion and a post-pandemic return to winning form, he became head coach in 2023. A year later, he was inducted into the Syracuse Rowing Hall of Fame.

    Today, he leads one of the most dominant programs in collegiate rowing.

    He’s a national champion, world medalist, and Heavyweight Crew Coach.

    From the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina, our guest today has always had a passion for sports, one that began with a love for hockey and the Carolina Hurricanes. She turned that passion into a purpose, starting with a Bachelor of Science in International Business and Business Administration, Management from UNC Greensboro.

    Her professional journey in college athletics began at Wake Forest University, where she helped shape the fan experience for Volleyball, Men’s Soccer, and Baseball as a Fan Experience and Sales Coordinator. From there, she headed west to Sam Houston State University, taking on the responsibility ofleading marketing efforts for all 17 varsity sports — a role she held for over a year and a half.


    Now bringing her talents to the Atlantic Coast Conference, she continues to drive engagement and strategic marketing as the Assistant Director of Marketing, a role she stepped into in November 2023.

    After graduating from Jamesville-DeWitt High School in 2004, he starred at Le Moyne College, earning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year honors and helping lead the Dolphins to their first NCAA National Championship appearance.He went on to earn his master’s from Cortland State in 2012 and coached the women’s golf team there for eight seasons.     Todays Guest: Assistant Athletic Director of Special Events at U of Nebraska- Arek Olson

    Originally from Wellsville, New York, he began as a student-athlete, playing baseball at Keuka and Cazenovia Colleges, where he earned his degree summa cum laude. He went on to complete his master’s at Syracuse University, gaining hands-on experience in event operations and facility changeovers with the Carrier Dome.

    From there, he took on leadership roles at Lehigh University, managing large event teams and facilities, before joining the University of Arkansas in 2021. Over four years with the Razorbacks, he helped launch major first-time events like concerts, conventions, and arena shows, while also improving internal systems and serving as part of the NCAA Gymnastics Regional host team.

    Now in 2025, he steps into a new chapter as Assistant Athletic Director of Special Events at Nebraska, leading strategy and execution for concerts, corporate functions, and more. He’s also working toward his doctorate at East Tennessee State University—all while being a dedicated family man and lover of sports, music, and the outdoors.

    Today’s guest has built her career from the ground up starting at Syracuse University Athletics, where she helped boost Women's Soccer attendance by 26%, created cross-platform marketing campaigns, and led a 50+ person intern team in enhancing the gameday experience.

    From there, she took her talents to the University of New Mexico, where she increased Volleyball attendance by a staggering 179%, grew the athletics app’s user base by 22%, and brought new life to the Lobo brand through social media, email marketing, and hands-on fan engagement.

    At Long Beach State, she continued raising the bar overseeing marketing for Baseball, Women’s Volleyball, and Women’s Basketball. Under her leadership, Baseball attendance jumped 54%, and she managed digital strategy that skyrocketed Instagram engagement by more than900%.

    And now, at West Virginia University, she’s redefiningwhat’s possible in sports marketing. Since June 2023, she’s led efforts that increased Women’s Basketball attendance by 40%, doubled season ticket sales, and drove $15 million in football revenue—the second highest in program history. Her digital and email campaigns alone helped produce over $2.4 million in ticket revenue in 2024.

    From creative campaigns to data-driven results, she’s a powerhouse in collegiate athletics.

    From Long Island roots to national championship regattas and WNBA Draft nights, she’s been behind the scenes telling the stories of some of college sports’ most elite programs and athletes.

    After earning her bachelor’s degree in sport management from Lasell College in 2012, she began her full-time career at Lynn University, where she led communications efforts across 10 varsity programs and served as postseason contact during back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championship runs for women’s golf. She was also on hand as the men’s basketball team reached the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in a decade.

    Her journey continued at UNC Greensboro, where she promoted standout student-athletes including CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. At East Carolina, she took the lead on media relations for four women’s programs while also implementing an intern program to elevate support within the department.

    She joined Syracuse University in 2018, and since then, she’s played a key role in promoting All-Americans and future pro —. From Final Four pressers to NCAA rowing championships, she’s been the voice behind the stats, the stories, and the successes.

    A leader within College Sports Communicators, she chaired the Young Professionals Committee for four years and continues to serve on key national committees while presenting at industry conventions across the country.
