A story of friendship, loss, and the search for immortality. Gilgamesh, the mighty king of Uruk, is two-thirds god, yet he is a tyrant to his people. To humble him, the gods create Enkidu, a wild man born from the wilderness. They become the closest of friends and together slay the monster Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. But the gods demand a price for their defiance: Enkidu falls ill and dies, leaving Gilgamesh shattered by grief. For the first time, the king is terrified of his own death. He embarks on a perilous journey across the Waters of Death to find Utnapishtim, the immortal survivor of the Great Flood, hoping to unlock the secret of eternal life. He is given a test—to stay awake for seven days—but like all humans, he fails. The only chance at youth is a plant of eternal renewal, stolen from him by a serpent while he bathes. Returning home empty-handed, he finally understands that true greatness lies not in cheating death, but in a life lived with purpose.
