The standards we measure ourselves by can become an albatross. The weight of disappointment, the fear of perceived failure, the pain of perpetual personal defeat can lead anyone to believe there is no reason to press on or persevere. We have all been told to set goals, create vision boards, establish high expectations, accept only the best outcomes.
This is a double edged sword for sure. Setting low standards, easily achieved goals, and minimize accountability and disaster is coming. Perhaps the disaster won’t be to results or productivity but certainly to character.
Establish your goals, accomplishments and markers of success based on your core values, your principles and your priorities.
When the accomplishment of others becomes the only marker of your own success, failure is imminent.
