For many years I have watched people attempt to “add story” to their elevator pitch, sales process, and their persuasion paradigm. I have listened to well crafted AI generated stories with matching artwork and glimmering graphics. I have witnessed the simple suddenly becoming slick and the tantalizing trickery become a tempting trajectory.
Playing with words, smithing words, alliteration and emotion are tools of the craft of communication and must be part of the serious conversation surrounding sales… but those techniques alone are not storytelling.
And yet, storytelling converts. A good story, converts better than a well told lie.
