What kind of soil is your heart?

In this episode of Met in the Mess Podcast, we’re continuing our Rooted & Growing series by diving into one of Jesus’ most well-known parables: The Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:1–9, 18–23.

Jesus teaches that the condition of the soil determines how the seed grows—and in the same way, the condition of our hearts affects how we receive God’s Word. Some hearts are hardened. Some are shallow. Some are crowded by worry, distractions, and the pursuit of more. And some are fertile, producing a harvest far beyond what was planted.

As moms, wives, friends, and followers of Christ, it’s easy for the busyness of everyday life to leave our hearts distracted or spiritually dry. Together, we’ll explore how to recognize the different “soils” in our own lives and invite God to cultivate hearts that are receptive, deeply rooted, and fruitful.

This isn’t about striving for perfection—it’s about allowing the Master Gardener to transform us from the inside out.

In This Episode:

  • Understanding the meaning of the Parable of the Sower
  • The four types of soil and what they represent

  • Recognizing distractions, worries, and obstacles to faith
  • Practical ways to cultivate good soil through daily time with God
  • What it looks like to bear spiritual fruit in everyday life
  • Encouragement for growing deeper in faith, even in messy seasons
