  • Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled: Jesus as Our Eternal Comforter
    2025/08/18

    Send us a text

Jesus offers eternal comfort through His promises in John 14, preparing a place for us in heaven and assuring us of His return.

    • Jesus spoke these words of comfort to His disciples the night before His crucifixion
    • "Let not your heart be troubled" - Jesus anticipates our anxiety and offers true comfort
    • "In my Father's house are many mansions" - Jesus promises prepared places for believers
    • Jesus will personally return to take believers to heaven
    • True comfort comes only from relationship with Christ, not temporary "comfort counterfeits"
    • We aren't promised freedom from troubles, but Christ's presence through them
    • Salvation comes only through trusting Jesus as "the way, the truth, and the life"

  • CCOG: 8-10-25 Sunday Morning Service. Hosting the Glory: When God's Presence Changes Everything
    2025/08/12

    Send us a text

Moses' desperate plea, "Show me thy glory," frames this powerful message about our desperate need for God's authentic presence rather than manufactured religious experiences. In a time when churches increasingly rely on technology and performance to create spiritual atmosphere, we're reminded that without God's glory, our efforts are empty and powerless.

The contrast between Kings Saul and David reveals two approaches to spiritual leadership. Saul, though anointed king, gradually relied on his own judgment rather than divine guidance. His partial obedience in the battle against the Amalekites—sparing King Agag and the best livestock when commanded to destroy everything—demonstrated how we often substitute sacrifice for obedience. Samuel's rebuke still challenges us today: "It is better to obey than to sacrifice."

David, meanwhile, understood that his identity as a worshiper with a harp preceded his role as king with a crown. When he finally ascended to leadership, his first priority wasn't policy or military strength but recovering the Ark of the Covenant—the physical representation of God's presence that had been neglected throughout Saul's reign. Yet even David's story contains a warning when his enthusiasm to bring back the Ark led him to transport it incorrectly, resulting in Uzzah's death when he touched the sacred object.

The narrative takes a remarkable turn when the Ark is temporarily housed in Obed-Edom's home. For three months, this family hosted God's presence with reverence, resulting in overwhelming blessing. This teaches us that when we make intentional space for God's presence and honor it appropriately, transformation naturally follows in every area of life.

As our church approaches its centennial celebration, we're called to commit just 100 seconds daily to focused, intercessory prayer for God's continued presence in our congregation. The revival we've recently experienced—our "Mother's Day miracle"—is just a foretaste of what can happen when God's people genuinely seek His glory above all else.

  • Bible Talk with Sister Deb: What If You Woke Up With Only What You Thanked God For?
    2025/08/11

    Send us a text

"What if you woke up tomorrow with only what you thanked God for today? Would you still have your home, your car, your health, your family? Would you still have your salvation?"

This striking question frames Sister Deb Osborne's powerful exploration of gratitude through the biblical story of ten lepers healed by Jesus—but only one who returned to give thanks. Drawing from Luke 17:11-19, she unpacks this profound lesson about the gap between receiving blessings and acknowledging their source.

The narrative transports us to an ancient village where ten men suffering from leprosy—social outcasts required to live isolated from society—encounter Jesus. Standing at a distance as law required, they cry out for mercy. Jesus simply instructs them to present themselves to the priests, and as they walk away in obedience, their diseased bodies begin to heal with every step.

Yet despite experiencing this life-transforming miracle, nine continue on their way while only one—a Samaritan foreigner—returns to fall at Jesus' feet in gratitude. Sister Deb powerfully connects this to our own tendency to plead fervently in times of need but forget to praise with equal fervor when prayers are answered.

"It's one thing to be grateful, but it's altogether another to show it," she observes, challenging listeners to recognize how we've all suffered from "spiritual leprosy" until Jesus made us clean. True thankfulness isn't merely a feeling but manifests in worship, acknowledgment, and daily recognition of God's blessings—from salvation to the very breath in our lungs.

The message culminates in a heartfelt reminder that thanksgiving shouldn't be confined to a single holiday but should permeate our everyday lives. Each blessing, whether extraordinary or mundane, deserves acknowledgment. As Sister Deb asks, "How could we not be thankful for everything that He does for us?"

Ready to transform your relationship with gratitude? Listen now and discover whether you're the one who returns to give thanks or one of the nine who receives without acknowledgment.
