I used to sit in my car dreading Friday, the one day nobody else touched because I never let them near the bookkeeping at all. I'd stay up until two in the morning running numbers while my wife slept beside me, wondering if dreading a single day of the week like a root canal was really what owning a business was supposed to feel like.

That question is what led me to the real difference between building a business and just creating a job for myself. Building a business means systemizing real processes and trusting your team to run them. Building a job means one of two things: either you're doing everything yourself, or you've technically delegated a task while still micromanaging it so closely that nothing actually changed. I learned to delegate without micromanaging the hard way, and it cost me more than late nights before I fixed it.

Holding onto bookkeeping myself eventually sent me to the hospital with what I thought was a heart attack and turned out to be anxiety. I share what finally got the task off my plate for good: documenting the process in real detail and building in a real trial period, instead of just handing something off and hoping for the best.
