概要
Is it okay to take stuff out of other people's skips?
It's an exciting day for the pod as we welcome South Wales comedy royalty - thought of as a hard man of the Cardiff comedy scene (and as a bit of a soft lad back home): STEFFAN EVANS!
In this episode, we discuss Steff's dad, John Evans, affectionately knows as JOHN BACH (little John), a short but girthy man who stands at 10 beer cans tall and weighs the same as a standard beer keg. John is known as the local hard man in a Pembrokeshire town exclusively populated by hard men, a master pintsman who loves a punch-up, a horseshoe-moustached terrier of a man, who has never shied away from hopping on a JCB in his life. We discuss John's various sources of income throughout his life, which include: driving massive lorries, home-brewing 10%apv ale, and stealing local trees. Steff also tells us about John's love for war films and Welsh country music.
Steff reminisces about happy memories of his dad placing him into a skip to rummage through for any treasures, and driving lessons which consisted of giving his dad a lift to the pub (one of which led to a high-speed police chase). Things get a little bit blue as Steff discusses his dad's unorthodox take on the birds and the bees chat, the time he tried to watch a war film on video but it'd been taped over with a porno, and the times his dad hid his porn VHS tapes under Steff's mattress when he was six.
Also in this episode, Steff tells us about the interesting experiences he had in Amsterdam and gives his top tips for pissing in the cinema. Plus, we all bond over tales of difficult gigs with antagonistic audiences in the Valleys and our shared hatred for misogyny.
France also gets brought up a lot as Steff and Joe educate Max on the rather medieval public toilet system there, and Joe gets existential dread from the philosophical questions raised by the atomic deterioration of le grand kilogram. He also calls the French "filthy people" - which they are.
