Danielle unpacks what it really looks like when autopilot takes the wheel in mom life...that scattered, hot-mess feeling of going through the motions, losing your cool more than you'd like, and not even recognizing how you got so out of alignment with who you are. Drawing from Psalm 34:14, she walks through why recognizing this pattern is the first step toward restoring your presence and clarity, and shares the 3-step process for turning away from the overwhelmed, out-of-control version of yourself and moving toward feeling like you again. This episode kicks off a multi-week series on turning autopilot into purpose, one step at a time.
3 Steps to Stop Losing Your Cool and Start Living On Purpose:
- Recognize when you're on autopilot — Danielle breaks down what autopilot actually looks like: going through the motions, not present, not intentional, scattered and reactive instead of grounded. She shares how this played out in her own motherhood journey, including the moment things started to unravel — losing her cool with her kids in ways that didn't feel like her...and why simply recognizing the pattern is half the battle.
- Turn away from the pattern, not from yourself — Danielle unpacks Psalm 34:14: "Turn away from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it." She's clear that "turning from evil" here doesn't mean you are the problem...it means recognizing the actions and defaults that feel out of character, out of alignment with who you truly are, and choosing to turn away from them without judgment or self-doubt.
- Seek peace, then actually pursue it — Danielle draws the distinction between wanting peace and pursuing it...you can't just wish for clarity or presence, you have to take action toward it. She shares her own grounding practice for the hardest moments: stepping away to the bathroom mirror and repeating "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" until she found the strength to keep going.
