Have you ever walked through something hard with one child… and quietly feared it might happen again with another?
After my conversation with Amy Loflin, I wanted to take a deeper look at something so many moms experience—but rarely name: anticipatory grief.
In this solo episode, I'm sharing how our past pain can begin to shape our present relationships, causing us to expect the worst before it ever happens. When we're not careful, fear can slowly shift the way we see our children, leading us to parent from a place of anxiety instead of truth.
I open up about my own experience—how a past unhealthy relationship distorted my understanding of love, and how I unknowingly carried those beliefs into a healthy one. It took time, awareness, and God's truth to begin separating what was real… from what I had come to expect.
If you've ever found yourself bracing for something that hasn't even happened yet… this episode is for you.
In This Episode, We Talk About:
- What anticipatory grief is and how it shows up in motherhood
- Why it's easy to expect the same struggles with other children
- The difference between awareness and projection
- How past experiences can distort our view of love and relationships
- Why fear can create distance in the relationships that matter most
- How to begin separating your past from your present
Encouragement for You:
Your past may explain your fear… but it does not get to define your relationships.
You don't have to parent from fear.
And just because something happened before… doesn't mean it will happen again.
