I’m a natural planner. It comes with being in leadership at a big company, working closely with project managers, and being used to planning everything to a T all throughout school and college.
So, of course, I used this skill to plan out my life.
And that’s when things went sideways.
I spent many years planning my life direction, my career path (and then business path), my finances, when to have kids, achieving all kinds of personal goals - only to find myself disappointed, frustrated, and down on myself every time I did not hit the goals and had to alter the plan.
(Plus, the planning process itself took SO much of my time. Hello productive procrastination!)
So in this episode, I explain why I no longer plan out my life, and what I do instead.
Because I still want to be intentional about where I’m heading in life. I don’t want to just “coast.” I’m still ambitious, I still have big dreams.
I just no longer pursue those dreams by putting myself in a rigid box of a short-sighted plan.
