I wasn’t planning to write an episode this week. I was planning to replay an old one, tackle the post-vacation laundry mountain, and call it good.

Then one last unexpected hike in the Canadian Rockies changed the plan.

Two years after first sharing the story of how I learned to “play my way through,” I’m wondering if maybe we’ve gotten play all wrong. Is it something we’re supposed to outgrow—or something God keeps inviting us back into?

With dancing water, frolicking sea creatures, one very disappointing moose sighting, and a little help from Psalm 104, we’re rediscovering wonder, delight, and the God who built both right into His creation.

Maybe we’re not too grown-up to play after all. Have a listen!

Here’s a small excerpt: “Because play doesn’t critique. It doesn’t evaluate. It doesn’t analyze. It doesn’t scrutinize. It doesn’t adult, at least, not in the boring-adult way. It’s just uninhibited joy. It’s laughter. It’s- well, playful. Man, when did I become such a grown-up? Too grown-up to play?”
