In this throwback episode of The Rachel Hollis Podcast, Rachel reflects on 18 lessons she’s learned over 18 years of motherhood as her oldest child prepares to leave for college. Moving from the baby years through raising teenagers, she discusses trusting your instincts over other people’s opinions, accepting how parenthood changes you, prioritizing self-care, asking for help, letting go of parental guilt, and recognizing that every child needs something different. Rachel especially emphasizes building trust by listening without judgment, maintaining an identity outside of your children, asking kids for honest feedback, and continuing to grow alongside them. Ultimately, she acknowledges that parenting can be exhausting, lonely, chaotic, and imperfect while still describing raising her four children as the most meaningful experience of her life.
