このコンテンツについて
Next up in our series of deep conversations with bass music's most inspiring souls, we get to connect with a true soldier of the North American drum & bass jungle movement and celebrate Pride month in the process.
Please welcome Jordana!!
Initially operating as 1.8.7, Jordana represented the genre in some unparalleled places, setting some incredibly high benchmarks as both as a DJ and as a producer. From making her production debut with a remix of Blondie to being a Mixmag cover star and even being the first drum & bass artist to appear on MTV, her contributions to the culture were nothing short of pioneering... Despite facing consistent challenges, exclusion, blocking and outright hate as a black trans artist.
Sadly as the 2000s entered, Jordana experienced some of the most horrendous trauma imaginable and had to take a long time away from the music to heal. Thankfully she's back and, as her lyrics on her latest single declare, she's here to slay.
Don't call this a comeback because Jordana never chose to leave. She almost lost her life for this. And since 2020, she's been reclaiming her title as one of the very earliest US drum & bass artists to breakdown boundaries and take the underground to ears who needed to hear it.
And now you need to hear her story.
In one of our most indepth and emotionally hard-hitting discussions so far, Jordana shares her musical journey to host and 1 More Thing founder Dave Columbo Jenkins. From the wild highs to the utterly traumatic and heart-breaking lows, all set to the constant adversity the trans community face day to day, Jordana is refreshingly honest and candid about the scene, the politics and how we can all be more understanding, empathatic and supportive of each other and make this culture a safer space.
This is essential listening!
