Why does it feel so uncomfortable to stay with what you’re feeling… instead of fixing it—especially in perimenopause?

If you’ve paused… even briefly…
and noticed what’s coming up in your body or emotions—
but felt the urge to move past it quickly…

you’re not alone.

For so many women in perimenopause and midlife,
slowing down can feel unfamiliar… even unsettling.

Because we’ve spent years learning how to push through,
figure things out,
and take care of everyone else.

In this episode, we gently stay a little longer.

Not to fix.
Not to solve.

But to begin listening.

This episode is for the woman navigating perimenopause who feels the pressure to fix everything—
but is ready for a gentler way.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode

  • Understand why it can feel uncomfortable to stay present with your emotions
  • Learn what urgency may be covering underneath (fear, sadness, frustration)
  • Explore how your body holds emotional awareness and signals
  • Discover why listening—not fixing—is a powerful first step
  • Practice a gentle way to respond to yourself with compassion instead of pressure

A Gentle Reminder

If you’ve found yourself thinking:
“I shouldn’t feel this way”
“Why is this so hard for me?”
“I just need to move on”

You’re not alone.

And you’re not doing this wrong.

Your feelings are not something to override—
they are something to gently listen to.

What you’re experiencing… matters.

A Small Practice to Try

The next time you feel something rise…

Pause.

Bring your attention to your body
and gently notice where that feeling is showing up.

And then ask:

“What am I feeling right now?”
“What is this feeling trying to tell me?”

Not to fix it.
Not to change it.

Just to listen.

And if words don’t come…
you can simply stay and say:

“I hear you.”
“I’m here.”

Why This Matters

When we move too quickly into fixing or problem-solving,
we can unintentionally bypass what’s actually happening inside.

But learning to stay—even for a moment—
helps you:

  • build a safer relationship with your emotions
  • increase awareness of your body’s signals
  • respond with compassion instead of self-criticism
  • begin creating lasting, supportive change

This is especially meaningful in perimenopause,
when emotional and physical shifts can feel heightened and unfamiliar.
