Brenden "Beanie" Hinton is an Army veteran, a former Supervisor of Distribution Operations with the US Postal Service, co-chair of the Kershaw County Housing Authority, and the owner of Earthly Eating Catering. He is also the founder of the TrackBlock Community Development Coalition, launching January 2027. Rob sits down with Brenden for a wide-ranging conversation about growing up between Stamford, Connecticut and the racetracks of Camden, South Carolina; the night a police stop set him on a different path; the survivor's remorse he carried when his friends went to prison and he did not; leading the George Floyd march in Kershaw County; feeding and housing people through Food for the Soul and the United Way; and losing over 100 pounds on his own terms. He also lays out the seven pillars behind TrackBlock and why he thinks local votes, mentorship, and plain hard work matter more than anything happening at the national level. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ CHAPTERS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 0:00 Intro 1:59 From Connecticut to Camden, and Into the Army 3:38 Postal Service and Becoming an SDO 7:20 The Night That Changed His Path 8:42 Survivor's Remorse 11:02 The George Floyd March in Kershaw County 13:08 Food for the Soul and Community Relief 16:18 Homeless Services and HMIS Work 18:34 Why Mentorship Matters 20:09 Starting Earthly Eating 21:34 The Weight Loss Journey 26:26 Food Deserts and Access to Healthy Food 29:38 Training, Recovery and Routine 34:53 Fatherhood, Family and Social Media 39:27 The Seven Pillars of the Coalition 41:57 Voting and Local Political Power 47:45 Camden's Growth and Lost Resources 49:15 Affordable Housing and Investment 53:37 Physical Education and Youth Fitness 56:05 Launching TrackBlock in 2027 1:05:07 His Grandfather's Influence 1:07:52 Advice to His Younger Self 1:09:22 Where to Find Brenden ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ TRACKBLOCK COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COALITION ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Brenden's nonprofit launches January 2027, built on seven pillars: mental health, physical health, etiquette, financial awareness, community service, political awareness, and mentorship.
