Lord Percy Krescar of Barnboro is a "fancy" knight who prefers polishing his impressive armor to actually protecting his people. When a vicious "beast" begins terrorizing the town, Percy’s attempts to hire trappers and hunters to handle the problem fail miserably. Forced to face the creature himself, he is battered and bruised, eventually taking refuge behind an iron gate in the town’s root cellar. There, he discovers the surprising truth: three tiny lion cubs have been accidentally trapped inside. The "beast" is actually a desperate mother lioness trying to rescue her babies. Moving with newfound empathy, Percy releases the cubs and reunites the family. Witnessing the lioness’s fierce devotion, Percy realizes that a true leader is someone willing to do the hard work and protect their people at any cost. He returns to his tower a changed man, trading his vanity for a life of service and becoming the most beloved lord in the history of Barnboro.
