Maine Democratic nominee for the 2nd Congressional District and Maine State Auditor Matt Dunlap joined Q-Point Podcast to discuss his primary victory, the general election campaign, fundraising, polling, and what he is hearing from voters across the district. Dunlap also reflected on going to bed on election night believing his campaign may have been over, only to ultimately emerge as the Democratic nominee.

Dunlap outlined his views on the economy, healthcare access, rural hospitals, housing affordability, childcare costs, Social Security, capital gains taxes, and the rising cost of living. He also discussed Medicare for All, private insurance, prescription drug costs, and what role he believes the federal government should play in protecting access to healthcare.

The conversation also explored the Democratic Socialists of America, political labels, the Second Amendment, higher education costs, Maine’s lobster industry, and federally proposed ropeless fishing gear. Dunlap explained where he fits politically, why he prefers approaching issues individually rather than through ideological labels, and what he believes he would bring to Maine’s 2nd Congressional District.
