The three powerful demon brothers—Tarakaksha, Viryavaan, and Vidyunmali—built three mighty flying cities called Tripura. Protected by a special boon, the cities could be destroyed only when they aligned together at a rare moment.

When the demons began troubling the gods and disturbing the balance of the universe, Lord Shiva prepared to end their tyranny. At the destined moment, when all three cities came into a single line, Shiva released one divine arrow and destroyed them instantly.

Because he destroyed the three cities (Tripura), Lord Shiva became known as Tripurari—the great destroyer of Tripura and the restorer of cosmic balance.

Kārttikeya led the celestial army against Tārakāsura. After a fierce battle, Kārttikeya confronted Tārakāsura directly and struck him with his divine śakti/vel (spear).

Tārakāsura was killed, the devas were freed from his oppression, and cosmic order was restored.

The central point of the story is that Tārakāsura’s own boon made Śiva’s son the only person capable of killing him—and Kārttikeya fulfilled that condition.

Tarakasura received a boon that only a son of Lord Shiva could kill him. The gods therefore prayed for the birth of Shiva’s son.

When Shiva and Parvati united, Shiva’s immense divine energy was released. Agni carried it, and it was later deposited in the Ganga, from which it reached a forest of reeds (Sharavana).

There, Kartikeya (Skanda) was born. He was nurtured by the six Krittika mothers, and therefore became known as Kartikeya and Shanmukha (the six-faced one). The gods appointed him commander of their army,.

Parvati, the daughter of Himavan, desired to marry Lord Shiva and devoted herself completely to him. However, Shiva remained absorbed in deep meditation after the death of Sati.

To help the gods and bring Shiva back to worldly life, Kama Deva, the god of love, was sent to awaken desire in Shiva’s heart. With his wife Rati by his side, Kama Deva shot his flower-tipped arrow at Shiva.

Shiva became enraged and opened his third eye, burning Kama Deva to ashes. Rati was heartbroken, but her love and devotion remained strong.

Despite this, Parvati continued her intense penance with unwavering faith and devotion to Shiva. Pleased by her dedication, Shiva finally accepted Parvati as his consort.

Their divine marriage symbolizes the sacred union of Shiva and Shakti, representing that true love, devotion, and perseverance ultimately lead to divine union.

Tarakasura was a powerful asura who wanted to become undefeatable. He performed intense penance for many years to please Brahma. Pleased with his devotion, Brahma appeared before him and offered him a boon.Knowing that no one can be made immortal, Tarakasura asked for a clever boon: he wished that only a son of Lord Shiva could kill him. Since Shiva was living in deep meditation and had no son, Tarakasura believed that such a child would never be born. Brahma granted the boon, and Tarakasura left confident that he could not be defeated.

Prahlada, the great devotee of Lord Vishnu, once reached Naimisharanya and mistook the ascetics Nara and Narayana for hypocrites because they carried weapons. He challenged them to battle, only to be defeated. Lord Vishnu then revealed that Nara and Narayana were His own incarnations, teaching that even the greatest devotees must remain humble and never judge by appearances.

After Indra killed Diti’s sons, she prayed for a child powerful enough to defeat him. Sage Kashyapa granted her wish, provided she followed a strict vow throughout her pregnancy. When Diti accidentally broke the vow, Indra entered her womb and split the fetus into many pieces with his thunderbolt. But instead of dying, the pieces became the Maruts, powerful storm gods who eventually became Indra’s own companions.

After Lord Narasimha defeated the demon Hiranyakashipu, his divine fury did not subside. Concerned for the balance of the universe, the gods prayed to Lord Shiva for help.

Lord Shiva then manifested as Sharabha, a powerful mythical being described as having the combined attributes of a lion and a great bird. Sharabha confronted Narasimha, and after their divine encounter, Narasimha’s intense rage was calmed, restoring peace and cosmic balance.
