Luna becomes convinced the door is real and still exists. She drives to the abandoned house, breaks in, and finds the door in the basement—painted a deep rust red, warm to the touch. She opens it and descends stone steps into darkness, following a sound like breathing. The episode ends with her realizing the steps go much deeper than the house's foundation, and the breathing behind her is not her own.

The recording begins with a woman's voice, calm at first, then breaking into a whisper: 'I don't think they know I'm still here.' Luna plays it twice. She cannot place the accent, or the sound beneath the voice—a rhythmic scraping, like fingernails on bark. This is the moment she realizes the tapes were not meant to be heard. The episode ends as she rewinds to listen again, and the tape makes a sound that is not mechanical.
