あらすじ・解説
Positive thinking has had its time - the new way of overcoming life's challenges is Useful Belief.
Useful Belief turns the "be positive" industry upside down with a fresh and modern approach to achievement. Sometimes things in life are not positive. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. If you've had a nightmare of a year, the last thing you want to hear is "Be positive!" Instead, you need an actual strategy to dig yourself out and a truly useful guidebook to show you where to go next. This is that guidebook.
Through the engaging tale of a business traveler and the three significant encounters on his journey, this book takes you on a journey of your own - to self-awareness and an improved approach to business, parenting, and relationships. You'll learn how thinking "useful" is better than thinking "positive", and you'll uncover the utility of your past, present, and future challenges. You'll undergo a major shift in the way you solve your problems, and you'll learn how to navigate your way out of ambiguity and toward success.
If you have challenges at work right now, just deciding to "be positive" will not fix them. Useful belief and strategy will. This book shows you how to frame your challenges to make them surmountable and how to formulate an action plan for getting where you need to be.
- Learn a simple self-awareness strategy that turns problems into plans
- Discover the truth about "truth" and the importance of "useful"
- Go beyond positivity to actually fix personal and professional problems
- Uncover the valuable lessons you've learned from the challenges you've overcome
Everything that has ever happened to you has happened for a reason. It doesn't matter if it's true, because it's useful to believe it is true. Useful Belief leads you toward the self-awareness and strategic outlook you need to achieve personal fulfillment and professional success.

really useful
I found the concepts and the presentation excellent. I deducted one star as I was really disappointed with the future useful beliefs as for me that was rather a copy of many other unattainable systems not matching the practicality of the first 2.
great book for audio and certainly one I think you can comeback to again and again

Would have been better as a 5min YouTube clip
A useful frame of mind to adopt however the presentation of the content was annoying to listen to. The reader came across as obnoxious, with a tone that sounded like a long-winded sales pitch. The first two chapters have meaningful content but the rest seems like fluff added in to pad out the book to justify its sales price.

Engaging and thought provoking!
Chris Helder takes a common concept and flips it on its head! Useful Belief is powerful, effective and motivating. It makes sense. and I want to make a note to read It annually to keep me on track and prevent slipping into complacency again. Thanks Chris!

An idea worth spreading
Great idea and worth the price but the story and delivery appear to be targeted for a school kid not an adult that shops in the self help section of the bookstore which makes the author sound borderline condescending. Despite this it's worth putting up with it given that it's so short.

Useful Belief
What a great book and it is just as the author intended, consumed in less than two hours. Although, you will probably want to stop, ponder and adjust along the way. I first came across Useful Belief at a conference where Chris Helder spoke and then I found the book. I have purchased many copies and given them away. This is how useful I think it is. The audible copy is mine to keep. It's a book that can be read/listened over and over and new things will leap out. Thanks Chris for writing it, very useful 😊

Enjoyable story, but he speaks too quickly.
If you could sum up Useful Belief in three words, what would they be?
A very USEFUL book in terms of using these belief systems in your life. A great story but he does not have the best voice for narration. Monotone, too fast and slightly slurs his words, which is quite distracting. The content is good though.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Chris Helder?
Not sure, but not Chris himself.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
