There are many reasons why Oliva is drawn to Dashwood, including his good looks, charm, and unbelievable age, which is why she cannot resist his appeal.
Oliva becomes increasingly more obsessed with Dashwood, as he in turn becomes obsessed with Oliva. As she realizes Dashwood's reckless behavior and the danger and cynicism that it presents, she begins to feel trapped in a web of secrets.
