Hey there, and welcome. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. It's early Wednesday morning as we're recording this, and I'm willing to bet that your to-do list is already whispering to you. Maybe you haven't even looked at your phone yet, but you can feel it there, waiting. That's exactly what we're going to untangle together over the next few minutes. Let's settle in. Go ahead and find a comfortable seat wherever you are right now. Your spine can be tall or relaxed, whatever feels honest to you. Close your eyes if that feels good, or soften your gaze downward. Take a moment and just arrive here. Your body's in this room, and now we're bringing your mind along too. Let's start with your breath. Breathe in through your nose for a count of four, feeling that cool air move through your nostrils. Hold it for just a beat. Then exhale slowly through your mouth, like you're fogging a mirror. Do this three times with me. In for four. Hold. Out. That's it. You've just told your nervous system that you're safe, that it's okay to focus. Now here's what I want you to try. We're going to do what I call the Focus Filter. This is my favorite trick when everything feels urgent and nothing feels possible. Imagine your attention like water flowing into a pool. Usually, we've got a hundred tiny streams coming in at once—emails, texts, that project deadline, what you're making for dinner. The water's splashing everywhere. But what if you could narrow all those streams into just one? Bring to mind one thing you need to focus on right now. Just one. Not your whole day, not your whole week. One thing. Really see it. What does it look like? Is it a spreadsheet? A conversation you need to have? Creative work? Now imagine taking all those scattered streams of attention and directing them like a laser into just that one thing. Feel how different that is? How much more powerful? That's your Focus Filter. Keep your attention on that one thing for the next breath cycle. In and out, staying right there with it. Notice how it feels less overwhelming when it has your complete attention. No judgment, no pressure. Just you and this one thing. When you're ready, take one more deep breath. And gently open your eyes. Here's what I want you to carry with you today: Before you jump into your next task, use the Focus Filter. Even thirty seconds of narrowing your attention down to one thing will change how you work. You'll feel clearer. More capable. Thank you so much for spending these moments with me on Productivity and Focus. This is the kind of practice that compounds, so please subscribe so you don't miss our next session together. You've got this. For great deals today, check out https://amzn.to/47ZqpWT
