- At 06:15 on Thursday, December 6, a translucent orange dry-bag was found on Faber Street dock containing a logbook, glasses, and a playing card marked "Tuesday. Day 4, still moving."
- The Adeline Cross departed Port Halverson at 07:40 and had cleared the harbor entrance by 08:20 before turning southeast toward Cutler Point.
- Between mile eight and mile nine the vessel encountered a current moving 2-3 knots at the surface and faster below, after which the engine overheated and seized.
- The ship struck the north arm of Faber Ledge and sank in under twenty minutes; two crew members reached a life raft while one, Marcus Cho, was trapped in the engine room and not recovered.
- The vessel's EPIRB did not transmit during the incident because its hydrostatic release had corroded shut; the beacon was recovered later in the wreck investigation.
