Holly plans the elaborate Marie Antoinette birthday party of her dreams—but between Hef’s sacred Movie Night schedule, Kendra’s last-minute costume crisis and one extremely unlucky custom cake, Versailles starts looking a little less than perfect.
This week on More Girls Next Door, Megan revisits Season 3, Episode 3, Let Them Eat Birthday Cake, originally aired on March 17, 2007.
Holly transforms the Playboy Mansion into an eighteenth-century fantasy filled with powdered wigs, French food, towering hairstyles, custom royal portraits and enough ribbon to wrap a midsize SUV. Bridget creates another perfectly coordinated gift basket, Hef surprises Holly with a hot pink Playboy golf cart, and the Mansion staff commits so fully to the theme that even Guest Services ends up in powdered wigs.
Meanwhile, Kendra waits until the day of the party to find a costume, rejects the Snow White dress Holly offers her and somehow turns an old pirate outfit into something that almost works. But after seeing the beautiful period-inspired gowns Holly provided for several other guests, we have to ask: Was the Snow White costume a sincere attempt to help—or was Kendra being set up to stand out for all the wrong reasons?
We also investigate the repeated attacks on Holly’s custom birthday cake, revisit the rigid Mansion routine that forced her celebration to work around Hef’s weekly Movie Night, and examine Holly’s haunting final declaration that her life was “perfect.”
Plus, the Y2K Vault looks back at the sudden death of Anna Nicole Smith in February 2007 and the celebrity news frenzy that dominated pop culture in the weeks before this episode aired.
