HITJ has an in depth conversation with accomplished labor organizers, activists, and educators Camilo Viveiros at the University of Massachusetts Labor Education Center and Humberto Da Silva a prominent Toronto labor organizer. We speak about the difference between labor organization theory and practical organization, they talk about their experiences organizing immigrant community workers, how their upbringing in working class Portuguese immigrant communities shaped their outlook and their approach.
In their opening segment Miguel and Gil talk about their own first protests, protesting in Portugal vs North America, Portuguese festas and social activism, and the joy of protesting.
Miguel and Camilo recorded at the WJFD Radio station, the oldest Portuguese radio station in New England and an important community institution. Gil and Humberto recorded from Toronto.
