概要

 A sun-faded afternoon in October 2009, on a quiet cul-de-sac in Ridgefield, Missouri. Luna picks up a gold pocket watch at the Barlow estate sale—a house that smelled of boiled cabbage and stale cigarettes. The watch still ticks, its hands frozen at 2:17. The sale flyer says the owner, Frank Barlow, died of a heart attack at 2:17 AM. But what Luna hears from the neighbor, Mrs. Eldridge, is different: Frank found the watch in his late wife's belongings years ago, and it never told the right time after that. He kept it wound anyway. As Luna turns the watch over, she feels something heavy settle in her palm—like a heartbeat that doesn't belong to her. And the hands, now, are moving backwards.
