When We Don’t Know What To Do Next
When we are facing something hard
and we’re not sure what to do next—
We are reminded
that we are not facing it alone.
“…he will give you another Advocate,
to be with you forever.”
— John 14:16
The Greek word translated Advocate—
παράκλητος (paraklētos)—
comes from two words that mean
to call alongside.
Depending on context, it can mean:
Helper — one who actively assists
Comforter — one who strengthens or steadies
Counselor — one who guides, teaches, reminds
Advocate — one who speaks on your behalf
This is who the Spirit is to us.
And this is how we are called
to be present with one another.
Whatever we are facing—
no matter how hard—
there is a loving presence
that comes alongside us
to strengthen, comfort, and guide.
And sometimes,
that presence
is meant to be us.
I’m Horace McMillon.
This is 60 Seconds of Hope.
Peace be with you.
