概要

Holiness:

What Is Holiness?

Holiness means being set apart for God—living in a way that reflects His character.

  • Key verse: 1 Peter 1:15–16 “Be holy, because I am holy.”

👉 Holiness is not about perfection—it’s about direction and devotion.

God Is Holy:

Holiness begins with understanding who God is.

  • Isaiah 6:3 “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty…”
  • Revelation 4:8 repeats this same declaration of God’s holiness

👉 God is completely pure, righteous, and set apart from sin.

Called to Be Set Apart:

Believers are called to live differently from the world.

  • Romans 12:1–2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world…”
  • 2 Corinthians 6:17 “Come out from them and be separate…”

👉 Holiness means:

  • Different values
  • Different priorities
  • Different lifestyle

Holiness Starts in the Heart

It’s not just outward behavior—it’s inward transformation.

  • Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart…”
  • Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a pure heart, O God…”

👉 God cares more about your heart than appearances.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

We don’t become holy by willpower alone.

  • Galatians 5:16 “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
  • Galatians 5:22–23 describes the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc.)

👉 Holiness is produced through relationship with the Holy Spirit, not just rules.

Turning Away from Sin:

Holiness involves actively rejecting sin.

  • 1 Thessalonians 4:3 “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified…”
  • Hebrews 12:14 “Without holiness no one will see the Lord.”

👉 This includes:

  • Repentance
  • Discipline
  • Making wise choices

Living a Holy Life Daily:

Practical Ways:

  • Guard your mind (what you watch, think about)
  • Watch your words
  • Choose godly relationships
  • Stay in God’s Word and prayer
  • Colossians 3:12–14 encourages compassion, kindness, humility, and love

Holiness and Grace:

Holiness is not legalism—it’s a response to God’s grace.

  • Ephesians 2:8–10 we are saved by grace, but created for good works

👉 We don’t become holy to earn God’s love— we live holy because we already have it.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What areas of my life are not fully set apart for God?
  2. Am I focusing more on outward appearance or inward purity?
  3. How is the Holy Spirit working in me right now?
  4. What is one step I can take this week toward holiness?

🙏 Closing Prayer:

Holy God, You are pure and set apart. Help me to live a life that honors You. Cleanse my heart, guide my thoughts, and strengthen me to turn away from sin. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can reflect Your holiness daily. Amen.
