कस्याञ्चित् कक्ष्यायां हरिः नरेन्द्रः शिवः च एकस्मिन् उपवेशनपीठे उपविष्टाः आसन् । नरेन्द्रः सुहृदौ एकां स्वारस्यकारीं कथां वदन् आसीत् तावता अध्यापकः आगत्य सस्यस्य अङ्गानि पाठयितुम् आरब्धवान् । हरिशिवयोः कथाश्रवणे महत् कुतूहलम् आसीत् इति कारणतः नरेन्द्रः कथाश्रवणम् अनुवर्तितवान् । तावता अध्यापकदृष्टिः तेषु पतिता । एतावता मया किं किं बोधितम् इति अध्यापकेन पृष्टे हरिः शिवः च उत्तरं वक्तुम् न शक्तवन्तौ । नरेन्द्रः तु कथां श्रावयन् एव पाठे अवधानवान् आसीत् इत्यतः सर्वम् अवदत् । यदा अध्यापकः त्वया पाठः श्रुतः इति अवदत् तदा नरेन्द्रः प्रवृत्तं सर्वं विदित्वा क्षमाम् अयाचत ।

In a classroom, Hari, Narendra, and Shiva were seated together. Narendra was narrating an interesting story to his friends when the teacher entered and began teaching about the parts of a plant. Hari and Shiva, curious about the story, continued listening to Narendra and missed the lesson. When the teacher noticed them and asked what had been taught, Hari and Shiva could not answer. But Narendra, though narrating the story, had also paid attention to the lesson and was able to explain everything. The teacher acknowledged that Narendra had listened to the lesson, and Narendra, realizing his mistake, asked for forgiveness.
