概要

Hour 3: The School District of Lee County disciplined students for disruptions during ICE protests in early February.

Students nationwide protested ICE following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

The district identified 2,480 students who participated in actions such as skipping class and insubordination. Disciplinary measures included 11 reassignments to Success Academy, 134 out-of-school suspensions, and 40 in-school suspensions.

“The safety and security of our schools is our top priority,” said Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin.

Carlin said that 96% of students adhered to the Student Code of Conduct during the protests, showing pride in their commitment to education.

The district thanked families for supporting the school's priorities and reinforcing behavioral expectations.
